First oil well in Malaysia - Canada Hill, Miri

Miri was the first and oldest oil well in Malaysia and named as Grand Oil Lady. It situated at the top of Canada Hill at Lutong road. This oil well was found in 10th August 1910 and she was in operation for well over 60 years before she was retired, and now she is one of Miri City’s famous landmarks

At the Canada Hill, it has a petroleum museum. Because of our arriving on Monday and it does not open, therefore we not welcomed by the museum.

Outside the museum was so nice and windy. The surronding of the trees and plant were so greenish...

Rainforest at Lambir Hill

Lambir is one of the accessible place in Sarawak. It took around 30 minutes drive from Miri to Lambir. At Lambir, it has Lambir Hill National park, but for this time journey, we are not going to Lambir Hill national park, but approaching to another rain forest also located in Lambir, it is Lambir Rainforest. Lambir Rainforest is different to other national park. In the rain forest, it have many station and each station have their own special and for the foreign tourist, they can know well the whole rain forest.
The place I'm standing is the Entrance of the rain forest.

At the rain forest, it have 2 section to let the tourists visit the places listed down. Because of we reach at the afternoon, and the second section start at 2.00pm, 6 of us manage to sit down and look around the environment at there. Beside of this, the service of the staff can be said super duper good, the way they treat the tourists and the arrangement are so consideration.

Before the second section start, tourists can hang around and go to the hall that well prepared the equipment for them to play and wait for the next section. All type of ball such as volleyball, basketball, ping pong and other can be played. All is free of charge.

One of the station at the rain forest is domestic farm. In the farm, we can see different type of domestic animal.

This is the "mini" waterfall that found in the rain forest.

By the track car, this is the way to top of the hill . On the way to the hill, the resort also provided the camp site for those who want stay at the nature .

Reach top of the hill and down of the hill is the Sarawak Oil Palm.

That is the chalet at the top of the tree but still under construction.

Beside that, a lot of tropical plants can be found in the rain forest.

This is one of the lake inside that, fishing activities can be done.

This is the boat who brought us went around the lake and feed the fish eat.

Beside of "mini" water fall, it has a big waterfall that the water flow from the top of the hill and the water is clear and cold.

It also provide boat ride for the tourists but before the boat ride, my friend ah fa wanna use the big leaf as his pan, but Siao Hui and me think the leaf not enough for him to cover the "SECRET" part...

This is all my friends that together went to the Lambir Hill Rainforest.

Miri Public Garden

Taman Awam Miri is about 3km from the city center along the Miri-Bintulu Road.

It extends over gentle hills to catch the breeze, and a few valleys which form the main excuse for building a few spine-tingling suspension bridges. The bridges are a great attraction for youngsters.

Night scene at Miri town from the public garden.

They are well constructed and netted in, but even so there’s the thrill of looking down from a great height, the buzz of walking on a gently swaying path, and then the little sigh of relief when the skywalkers have reached solid ground again.

There’s a botanical garden in Taman Awam, a sprinkling of attractive sculptures and water features, a jogging track, a canteen and a souvenir shop.
